Practical guide for trades
How to Photograph Completed Trade Work Properly
Better photographs do not require expensive equipment. A clean lens, consistent angles and a few deliberate shots will give a content manager far more to work with.
Clean the scene first
Remove packaging, tools, dust and unrelated vehicles where practical. The photograph should show the finished standard, not the end of the working day.
Take the before shot from a repeatable position
Mark or remember where you stood, then take the finished photograph from the same height and angle.
Capture wide, medium and detail views
Take one image showing the whole result, several showing individual areas and close-ups of the finish or technical detail.
Use daylight carefully
Avoid shooting directly into bright windows. Turn on finished lighting and hold the phone level rather than using heavy filters.
Keep the original files
Send full-resolution originals rather than screenshots or repeatedly forwarded images. Include the service, approximate location and permission status.
